Seismic stations

Mt Stromlo

RSES operates two seismic stations which are linked to the Australian National Network.

The Mt Stromlo station (CAN) just outside Canberra is operated on behalf of the French Geoscope Network and provides high quality broad-band seismic data to the international community.

The Warramunga Seismic and Infrasound Research Station near Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory comprises a 24-element broad-band seismic array and an 8-element infrasound array. Both arrays are certified primary stations under the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty and data is provided by satellite link to the International Data Centre in Vienna, Austria and to Geoscience Australia, in real time.
